CALIFORNIA GIRL SKINCARE SECRETS

In California, and particularly in the southern region, we tend to have a little bit of a love/hate relationship with the sun. Being that we get a whole lot more of it than nearly any other state, we tend to spend a lot more time in it. Which on one hand, means we get to keep our tans nearly all year long, and maintain that golden glow we're kind of known for. On the other hand, it means we're subjected to a lot of the negative sides of sun too - including the risk of uneven skin texture, sun spots, etc.

While I tend not to bask in the sun for a prolonged time, I do like to keep a little color going. And especially since I moved myself down to the desert, I've had to readjust my skincare routine a little bit in response to even more sun exposure!

Enter Vine Vera's Vitamin C collection. Vine Vera is actually a brand I discovered last year (and wrote about here). Being so impressed with the line, and especially the Vitamin C collection, I figured fully diving into the entire collection would be the perfect start to our 9 plus months of full sun!

Here's why I love it...

This collection hits every aspect of your skincare routine - from your face wash to your lip balm, and everything in between, with high impact. Each product contains a heavy hit of the ever powerful Vitamin C, which not only encourages collagen production (a process which the sun does not help with) and neutralizes free radicals (which helps protect your skin from the sun before and during exposure), but it also helps to reverse signs of photoaging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, and uneven texture (this is my favorite part bc even skin is a big part of getting that glow).

But that's not where it ends. This collection also contains Vitamin A and Resveratrol. Vitamin A also helps with fine lines and wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, not to mention great for fighting breakouts while Resveratrol is a natural antioxidant found in both red wine and cocoa that contains some pretty fabulous anti-aging benefits.

Two of my favorite products, which I discovered last year, are the Vitamin C Cleanser and the Vitamin C Serum. Not only do they smell amazing, but they make adding Vitamin C to your morning routine a piece of cake. Plus, I have found that adding the serum before the moisturizer makes a huge difference both in effectiveness, and in the texture of my skin after application (which is incredible, by the way - this entire collection leaves your skin velvety soft)

I also love the moisturizer, which by the way, soaks beautifully into your skin and enhances makeup application, and I was super excited to get to try the Vitamin C Resveratrol Peeling, which really helped to remove all traces of my dirt and makeup in the evening (I've made it a daily thing, but you can also do every other day).

And last but definitely not least, the lip balm. I think we often overlook our lips, thinking your average chapstick will do, but this sensitive tissue is just as prone to the damaging effects of the sun. And considering I already have a birthmark on my lips, I don't want to add anything else!

Aside from Vitamin C, the lip balm also has healing ingredients like avocado oil and shea butter to keep you nice and moisturized, no matter how long you've been out in the sun.

So the secret to that California glow? It's all about plenty of fresh air, sun worship in moderation, and the right ingredients, of course. And I've got mine all set for the sunny months ahead..
