Making The Garden Comfortable Enough To Live In

Want to enjoy the garden as much as possible? Same. The easiest way to do this in our opinion, is to make the garden as comfortable as possible. Identifying personal pain points when spending time in the garden is the first step. If you’re starting with a bare minimum garden - or if you have a set up that’s too bulky or lacking, the first step is most likely to start with the right garden furniture. An outdoor sofa can make it feel like a living room - but can also require more upkeep if you live in a rainy or high weather area. Chairs and a table that fits the outdoor space well are another great option and obviously make for a wonderful al fresco meal with friends or family. One thing to keep in mind, however, is to find a size and spacing of furniture that still allows for free movement and multiple uses.

Bring Some Entertainment Outside

It’s easier to be comfortable when there are plenty of entertainment options going on, which is a good argument for bringing some of the indoor entertainment options outside. It’s even possible to bring out a TV, with the aid of an outdoor TV cover. Other ideas include games for the family, including bocce ball, horseshoe, etc. And our personal favorite addition - a fireplace for late night chats.

Keep It Warm

Speaking of fireplaces, another bonus is that they help keep the garden truly warm. Not only does this extend your outdoor season, but it helps make your home feel like it truly expands beyond the walls. Depending on the climate, this is easier to achieve in certain places than others, but we’d argue it’s possible for most places, at least for a good part of the year. A patio heater and a fire pit can truly do wonders in the cold.

Invite People Over

What use is that wonderful, comfortable garden if we don’t have anyone to enjoy it with? Host BBQs, garden parties too, dinners, game nights, picnics, parties, the works, and often with less of a gear-up than if you were hosting indoors. Plus, clean up outside is often easier than inside -which, aside from the promise of more time in nature, is our favorite bonus of all.
