Why Your ATV May Struggle To Start After Winter
There’s a particular kind of betrayal in pulling out the ATV on the first beautiful weekend of the season, turning the key, and getting nowhere. We’ve waited through winter, cleared time in the schedule, and mentally left civilization behind for a few hours, so an engine that refuses to cooperate isn’t exactly part of the plan. Fortunately, a difficult spring start doesn’t automatically mean something expensive has gone wrong.

Start With Winter Storage
If an ATV drove normally before winter but suddenly acts temperamental in spring, start by thinking about what happened while it sat. Storage conditions also matter because temperature changes can introduce moisture around mechanical components.

Think Back to the Fall
Try to remember what condition the ATV was in when you stored it. If starting had already become slightly slower near the end of the season, winter may have made an existing weakness more noticeable.

Check the Battery First
