Small Space Strategies That Work For Your RV Too.

An RV is the perfect acquisition to allow us to enjoy the open road at our own pace. Weekend trips can be planned leisurely, and with a bit of preparation, the vehicle will have everything it needs to guarantee an enjoyable journey while being able to relax and sleep (whenever you want) on your way to your destination.

And thanks to their streamlined designs, they can sleep a family comfortably without needing to book into a hotel or motel during travels.

However, making the most of the available space in the vehicle is still crucial to keeping the vibe easy. It can be all too easy to accumulate a wide range of items that are rarely used, and these can severely limit the room inside the vehicle, leading to cramped and uncomfortable conditions. But with some smart planning and the use of ideal storage solutions (most of which work in any small space), it’s not difficult to transform an RV and keep it both practical and comfortable.

Utilize coat hangers

If you are planning a trip out into the country or a long road trip taking in multiple destinations, it is almost certain that you will require several clothing items for you and any family members. Clothing can take up significant amounts of space in an RV, so it is important to have effective storage solutions. An ideal way is to find a website that offers plastic hangers for sale and buy a bulk order. Most RV’s will come with a cupboard or built-in wardrobe, and it is simply a question of storing clothing items such as shirts, jackets, and jumpers in here on the hangers. The key benefit of using coat hangers to keep your clothes is that they will not need to be ironed to look presentable, as they are unlikely to get creased while hanging up in your RV wardrobe. This can be vital for a long road trip when you want to look your best when you get to your destination, especially if it involves meeting friends or relatives or attending a social function.

MULTI-USE SPACES

Finding multiple ways to use the same space is imperative when it comes to any tiny space, and even more so when on the road in an RV or camper. Storage under dining benches or stairs, or a table that can close up so the seats can turn into a second bed - or where you can install drawers beneath it - can give the functionality of an entirely new room altogether within the same space.

Assess any hollow spaces (including walls) and you might be surprised to find entirely underutilized areas that can expand the space in completely new ways.

CABINET DOORS

Cabinet doors offer a new opportunity for storage - if you hang items off the back of them. It maximizes shelf space by doubling up the use - and is pretty ideal for RVs when driving, as hung items tend not to move around quite as much.

DRAWER DIVIDERS

When space is tight and the drawers are few, use drawer dividers to create sections within a single drawer for multiple items. From socks and underwear being combined into one drawer to rolling tees up next to shorts, drawer dividers can make an enormous difference. The only trick to make this work is that you’ll need to strip down to essential items to make it fit -but once the non essentials are gone, chances are you’ll be surprised at how little you miss them!

ORGANIZE THE BASEMENT

A lot of RVs come with ‘basements,’ aka a relatively large storage space. This basement is usually pretty open - which is great for containing a lot of items - but also easy to misuse without proper organization. Getting an organizer for this space can give you back a ton of space with relatively little effort. Dividers, storage bags, and sealed containers are some of our favorite ways for organizing the RV basement.

Fit a roof rack

When it comes to storage solutions, roof racks offer a wide range of benefits. One of the key benefits is that fitting a roof rack to your RV allows large and bulky items to be stored outside the vehicle rather than taking up valuable space inside it. Modern roof racks will be made from high-quality, weather-resistant materials such as stainless steel in their structural design. This makes them a solution across all seasons and keeps the risk of rusting at a minimum. Ensure that you invest in a high-quality roof rack for your RV so that it will perform and last for decades to come. See here for a range of high-quality roof racks ideal for RV use.
