FROM THE GROUND UP
I've been talking so much more with friends lately, checking in with how we've been holding up this crazy, rough week. I didn't realize it until I spoke with so many people, but apparently, 2016 was a tough year for a lot of people, for a lot of different reasons, both personal and grand scale. I've already talked about how it's been a seriously tough year for us in a lot of ways. I'm chalking 2016 up to a result of being the year of the fire monkey - erratic and hard to control.
Since 2017 really isn't that far off, I've already started thinking about how it might shape up. Sure, we're starting the year off with an awkward step forward politically, but you know what they say about lemons and lemonade and whatnot.
On a personal level, I'm looking forward to a fresh start. I'm also looking forward to the idea of slowing down a little bit, and taking more time to enjoy the ones I love and well, you know, life in general. The last two years have been all engines go, pretty much nonstop and it's definitely taken its toll health-wise, not to mention peace-of-mind-wise. So really, my one goal for 2017 is to be good to myself and the ones I love, and to focus on the things I love. And to me, that's a pretty great foundation from which to start.
How was 2016 for you? Are you starting to think about next year and what you want it to be like?
