Luxury Home Upgrades For Every Budget

Adding a touch of luxury to the home can sometimes be simpler than we think, while other strategies definitely have the kind of price tag we’d expect. Since all budgets are different, here are some of our top tips for both kinds of upgrades to make the home feel more luxurious - whether your budget the kind you find in couch cushions or bigger than the collective forgiven student debt.

The Kitchen

We’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating - the kitchen is the heart of the home, and this is because people spend a lot of their time there. If you’re not cooking, then you’re eating at the dining table which is most frequently placed in the kitchen. If your not cooking or eating, you might be socializing there. Making upgrades here is paramount for luxury, although the price tag that comes along with a full reno often is too. But while a full reno is pricy, if you’re going for a luxurious feel on a budget, simpler options are available. For instance, change cupboard fronts to the kitchen an entirely new look and feel. Or change up the flooring and countertops, to create the vibe of a new kitchen but without the massive price tag.

The Patio

The patio is another area that can update the entire home feel. While most people only put basic levels of thought into their patio, take it one step further and look at things like motorized patio shades. These are a feature that scream luxury but don’t kill the mortgage - and if you add some beautiful outdoor furniture to your patio, that makes it all the better.

Patios are already high in demand when it comes to people buying houses, so it’s an investment into the future as well as something to make your home that little bit better. In fact, adding a patio to a home can increase the asking price by just under 10%.

New Hardware

Swapping updated sconces or chandeliers is an easy way to modernize a space. While we could literally spend our entire savings on luxury hardware for our homes, we could also opt for more affordable options that dupe the designer goods pretty closely. We love checking out Etsy, Ebay, and even Target for fantastic variations on more expensive items.

Luxury Items

One of our favorite interior design tricks, and surprisingly especially for designs on a budget, is to add in one or two focal luxury items. While this seems counterintuitive to designing on a budget, a few high-end items will elevate an entire space - including the more budget/affordable upgrades.

For instance, adding a 360-degree fireplace to the home turns a room into a destination space. A 360-degree fireplace provides practical benefits and will also become a literal centerpiece attraction for a property. It’s just a matter of ensuring that this is going to fit into the home - we recommend a little professional help with this.

Or, if you want to go even bigger with the type of elements that you could add to the home, then a new pool will make a huge difference. A swimming pool will look incredible and also provide practical benefits. It can even increase the value of your home by as much as 20%. Surprisingly, a typical pool costs roughly ten thousand on average - so while it feels like a massive splurge, it doesn’t have to be.

New tech is another way to upgrade the overall luxury feel without a complete overhaul. TVs these days can be similar to contemporary pieces of art. Instead of taking up space in a room, they can be mounted to the wall. They can be eye-catching and mesmerizing for the typical guests visiting your property. The best news is that beautiful TVs are available in sales throughout the year for budget-beating prices.

If none of these sound like luxury upgrades that are of interest, another area we love to spend a little more to get full impact are high-end coffee tables, artwork, chairs, and rugs. Just one high-end item will up the feel of value in every other item in the room, which makes the investment well worth it. A quality rug will last for years with the right care and can brighten and change the mood of a room almost instantaneously. Plus, if purchased strategically, art work can be a pretty fabulous financial investment.
