When traveling, it's always tempting to either stay absolutely faithful to the personal style that you wear at home, or to try and go totally native, attempting to dress more like a local than yourself. For me, I like to find something somewhere in the middle. A lot of the highly structured pieces in my wardrobe just won't work in a warm, incredibly humid tropical climate (although a lot more of my wardrobe now works for hot weather, thanks to Joshua Tree). As well, I don't want to come across as though I've just worn a costume the entire time I was elsewhere.
My obsession for off-the-shoulder tops has only grown in the last year or so, and this one from Banana Republic is one of my favorites. It's easy to wear, flirty, but still completely polished. The bow is actually supposed to go in the back, but I just love flipping it and wearing it in the front. It also looks great untied, with the bow ribbons, falling loosely like an opened sash. I love off-the-shoulder tops for vacation due to the fact that you can work on getting rid of any pesky bathing suit strap tanlines you might have picked up along the way!
