Growing up, I spent about 75% of my childhood in the water. It runs in my family. My dad was an avid  deep sea diver, wind surfer and long distance swimmer - so competitive swimming was just something to be expected from all five of his daughters. In fact, my dad likes to joke that he gave me my first swimming lesson 1 minute after I was born.

Aside from the pool, my family also spent a good part of my childhood traveling, often beach hopping from Fiji to Hawaii or Mexico and back again. This is a big part of why I have always loved being by water. It soothes me, but it also reminds me of being a kid. There's a simplicity to it that is both calming and invigorating - and at the same time, so very humbling.
